  1. Integrate real-time computerized Quality of Life (QOL) data into routine urologic care at the University of Michigan Health System.
  2. Develop prototype software to administer QOL instruments to patients and obtain real-time results for physician use during patient care.
  3. Convert existing UMHHC Urology QOL survey tools.
  4. Automatically assess and score questionnaires.
  5. Compare changes to previous assessments and determine clinical significance.
  6. Generate a one-page graphical summary report for physicians prior to the patient's exam room visit reporting QOL scores, changes from prior visits, and answers to clinically important items.
  7. Implement in a trial in two urology clinics for a proof of concept.

Individuals visiting the UM Cancer Center Prostate Cancer Clinic or a UM clinic located in Livonia, Michigan.

Patients take the prototype electronic Quality of Life (QOL) survey at two UM clinics. The study team gathers data, analyzes it, and compares it to past paper-based quality of life survey responses. The prototype's data will contribute to the development of a proposal for a more complex online survey system that will be more widely deployable.
