Unto E. Pallonen, PhD
Unto Pallonen passed away on January 25, 2012. Dr. Pallonen recently retired from the University of Texas' Center for Health Promotion & Prevention Research. His research focused on large-scale, longitudinal, community- and school-based smoking intervention studies. He conducted work both in Finland and the U.S. As Co-Investigator, he was responsible for a computer-based expert system tailored intervention study that targeted smoking, diet, and sun exposure in a longitudinal population-based high school study in Rhode Island. He was also Principal Investigator of a three-year American Heart Association grant assessing the effectiveness of components of multimedia health communication among young adults.
