Upcoming Seminar - June 21: Diane Lehman Wilson, MPP, JD, MA

Please join us Thursday, June 21st for the next talk in the CHCR series of monthly seminars when... Diane Lehman Wilson, MPP, JD, MA, will discuss:  Transparency in Action: ClinicalTrials.gov, Its Benefits and Burdens; What Investigators Need to Know

As the information age continues, the cries for governmental and health care transparency grow ever louder.  One way in which this has manifested itself is the creation and expansion of ClinicalTrials.gov and other trial registries.  From 2005 to 2012 the motivators for registering clinical trials have grown from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors’ statement requiring all clinical trials, broadly understood, to be in an open public registry before patient enrollment, to most recently the regulation which requires “applicable clinical trials” to use several mandated sentences in their informed consents which alert the study participant to the registration and possible results reporting in ClinicalTrials.gov and a new NIH encouragement to post results of all NIH funded studies in Clinicaltrials.gov.  This presentation will explain the recent transformations in ClinicalTrials.gov, how to determine whether your trial is affected by these rules, and some pointers about actual registration and results reporting.
